The sculpture Medusa Mask represents a recontextualization of the mythological canon, in which the artist pays tribute to the masters of Western tradition. The work references Renaissance Cellini and his iconography of Medusa as a triumphant trophy, while also drawing on the dramatic realism and psychological pathos of Caravaggio.

It captures the expressiveness of the face in a state of agony, achieving an iconographic synthesis of the classical subject with Baroque emotional intensity.

Within the context of Háša’s oeuvre, Medusa Mask serves to decontextualize ancient themes. Its aim is not to replicate, but to present a psychoanalytic portrait of the postmodern subject. The heightened expression and liminality of Medusa reflect the tension between historical tradition and contemporary phenomenology. The sculpture thus transcends mere homage, becoming a mirror of contemporary existential anxiety expressed in archetypal form.
